Frederic Chopin ： Variations on Rossini “La Cenerentola” A-Dur

Based on a theme from Rossini’s opera Cinderella, this set of variations unfolds through an intimate musical exchange between flute and piano. After a presentation that preserves the outline of the theme, changes in melodic ornamentation and movement are layered into the music, bringing its lyrical beauty and brilliant virtuosity into relief by turns. A particular highlight is the flute’s graceful singing line and the piano’s role, which not only supports it but at times comes to the foreground. In performance, the players should breathe together, maintain smooth melodic lines, and clearly distinguish the character of each variation.
