🇩🇪Paul Hindemith ： In einer Nacht No.3 Fantastic Duet of Two Trees Seen Through the Window

This miniature portrays the fantastical scene suggested by its title, “Two Trees Seen Through the Window,” as a dialogue between two voices. Fragments of melody emerge from a quiet atmosphere, while overlapping sonorities and shifts of register create the impression of two trees responding to one another. Although brief, the piece conveys changes of scene, with its most compelling features found in the character of each voice and the resonance that lingers after each phrase. In performance, let the melody sing clearly while keeping the accompaniment restrained, use the pedal without clouding the texture, and shape the changes between tension and release with care.
