🇳🇴Edvard Grieg : Piano Pieces after Own Songs No.4 Solveig’s Song Op.52-4

Type:Piece-collection Collection:Piano Pieces after Own Songs Key: - Duration:4:30

Post Share

This is the fourth piece from Grieg’s collection of piano arrangements of his own songs, based on “Solveig’s Song.” A long-breathed, song-like melody remains at the center, while the accompaniment quietly supports its flow. One of the highlights is the way changes in register and sonority emerge through the presentation and development of the melody. In performance, the right-hand singing line should be brought clearly to the fore, while the left hand remains supple and balanced, allowing each phrase to move naturally toward its climax. Use the pedal to sustain the resonance without blurring it, and let an unhurried tempo with a sense of breath convey the music’s lyrical character.
