Franz Peter Schubert ： Impromptus No.2 in As-Dur D935 Op.142-2

Schubert’s Impromptu in A-flat major is a work in which gentle lyricism and light, flowing motion exist in harmony. It can broadly be understood as a structure consisting of a main section, a contrasting middle section, and a return of the main material, with the right-hand melody naturally emerging above the fluid accompaniment. The elegant character of the main section and the change of color in the middle section are among its highlights. In performance, the melody should be allowed to sing while the inner voices and accompaniment remain restrained, with subtle dynamics and careful pedaling used to preserve transparency.
