🇮🇹Ottorino Respighi ： Fountains of Rome The Villa Medici Fountain at Sunset

This piano four-hand work depicts a fountain enveloped in the stillness of evening. Its overall sound is calm and transparent, with flowing melodies interwoven with delicate movements that suggest the sparkle of water as the music quietly shifts. A key attraction is the progression from the peaceful opening, through a climax created by overlapping sonorities, to an ending that leaves a lingering resonance. The melody should be shaped expressively while keeping the accompaniment light, and the pedal must be used without clouding the texture. Coordinating the two players’ breathing and shaping dynamic changes patiently and carefully will bring out the evening light and the rippling reflections on the water.
