🇭🇺Bartók Béla Viktor János ： For Children First Edition Vol.1 No.20 Drinking Song BB 53 Sz 42

“Drinking Song,” from Volume 1 of the First Edition of For Children, condenses lively gestures and folk-like warmth into a brief piece. It unfolds through the exchange of concise phrases, while interplay with the accompaniment and accented gestures provide forward momentum. Performers should shape the overall flow clearly, articulate the divisions between phrases, and make effective use of dynamic contrasts. Keep the music light without rushing, and listen carefully to the harmonic changes and movement in the inner voices; this brings out the humor and vitality within its simplicity. Because the piece is short, it is especially rewarding to vary the character of each repetition and guide the momentum naturally toward the conclusion.
