🇭🇺Ernst von Dohnányi ： 4 Rhapsodies No.3 in C-Dur Op.11

Dohnányi’s No. 3 from the 4 Rhapsodies combines a sense of freedom in its development with brilliant piano writing. Energetic rhythms alternate with songful melodies, inviting the listener to enjoy the changing character of each passage. Since the piece unfolds through a succession of contrasting sections, the overall changes in tempo and dynamics should be understood broadly, with the role of each section clearly defined so that the musical flow remains alive. In technically demanding passages with rapid figurations or chords, it is important not to pursue speed alone, but to seek a light touch and a sonority in which the inner voices do not disappear. The melody should be allowed to sing while maintaining a sense of breath at structural points, balancing improvisatory freedom with overall coherence.
