🇫🇷Charles Camille Saint-Saëns ： Transcriptions of J S Bach Book 1 Overture

This overture opens Book 1 of Saint-Saëns’s piano transcriptions of music by Bach. Its interwoven voices and richly layered sonorities reflect the composer’s effort to convey the grandeur of the original through a single piano. Hearing the main melody, inner voices, and bass as distinct roles while following the broad musical line makes the progression easier to perceive. In performance, it is important not to rely on weight alone, but to shape each voice with careful control of dynamics and articulation. In successive chords, the sound should remain clear, while a firm sense of meter balances dignity with forward momentum.
