Type:Piece-collection Collection:Klavierstucke in Fughettenform Key: F-Dur Duration:1:30

Post Share

The sixth piece in a set of seven, this work condenses the fugal style into a small-scale piano piece. Based on a subject, the voices enter in succession, and the music unfolds through imitation and dialogue. While the individual lines intertwine, the overall flow remains concise, allowing the subtle character of the contrapuntal writing to emerge. In performance, the passing of the subject should be clearly conveyed, with careful listening to the melodic voice and sufficient clarity given to the inner parts. Attention to phrase direction and the grouping of beats, together with clear sonority and a light forward momentum, brings out both the work’s structural clarity and its intimate character.
