🇺🇸William L. Gillock ： Serenade

Gillock’s “Serenade” is a lyrical piano miniature centered on a familiar, songful melody, with a gentle accompaniment supporting its flow. Listening carefully to the exchange of melodic lines and the shape of each phrase helps bring out the music’s natural character. As the phrasing changes, pay attention not only to dynamics but also to tone color and the way you shape each breath. Let the melody in the right hand resonate fully while keeping the left hand light and even, and use the pedal sparingly so the sound remains clear. Performing without haste and cherishing the lingering resonance brings out its quiet charm, reminiscent of a nighttime serenade.
