Sergei Rachmaninov ： Prelude D-Dur Op.23-4

A warm and lyrical prelude built around a broad, gently unfolding melody. Although calm in character, its texture is rich, requiring the pianist to keep the accompaniment flowing while allowing the melody to sing naturally. The main challenges are sustaining long melodic lines and balancing inner voices and bass without disturbing the surface. Depth of sound, spacious phrasing, and subtle tonal shading are more important than outward brilliance.
