🇭🇺Bartók Béla Viktor János ： Piano Concerto No.1 BB 91 Sz 83

Bartók’s Piano Concerto No. 1 is an impressive work in which the piano and orchestra seem to clash as equal partners, marked by sharp rhythms and percussion-like sonorities. It is structured in three movements: the first unfolds through forceful repeated figures and sustained tension, while the second centers on a quiet dialogue with a more restrained sound density. The third movement is filled with lively rhythms and forward momentum, bringing the work to a powerful conclusion. In performance, it is important to maintain the complex rhythms precisely while clearly shaping the hard-edged contours of the sound and its varied dynamics. Careful attention to ensemble with the orchestra, as well as to the contrast between tension and release, brings the work’s individuality into sharper focus.
