🇫🇷Erik Satie ： Nocturne No.3

Satie’s Nocturne No. 3 is a short work whose restrained writing conveys quiet lyricism and a refined lingering resonance. Rather than crowding the texture with notes, the performer should allow the changing relationships between melody and harmony to be heard with care. Instead of being driven forward by large-scale contrasts, the piece unfolds through delicate units that seem to breathe, with changes in resonance shaping its flow. The pedal should be used sparingly to avoid blurring; maintaining the melodic direction and the balance of the inner voices within the soft dynamics brings a transparent character to the music. The silences between phrases are also part of the music, so the piece benefits from an unhurried performance.
