🇭🇺Franz Liszt ： Lento S.159-1

This miniature from Liszt’s Venezia e Napoli invites the listener to savor the expressive character of its melody within a quiet, measured flow. Rather than creating brilliance through sudden dramatic contrasts, it carefully unfolds long, songful phrases and changing harmonies, allowing the resonance of each sonority to support the musical line. A calm sense of tempo is maintained throughout, while subtle variations emerge through the exchange between melody and accompaniment. In performance, the right-hand melody should be brought out with warmth, without allowing the left hand to become too heavy. The pedal should be cleared carefully to avoid blurring the harmonies; attention to phrasing, the tension within soft dynamics, and the lingering resonance toward the close will reveal the piece’s delicate expressiveness.
