Based on melodies and scenes from Meyerbeer’s opera The Prophet, this work reimagines them on the piano with Liszt’s characteristic dramatic power and brilliant virtuosity. Lyrical melodies alternate with orchestral sonorities and energetic passages, bringing the stage-like character of the original to life on a single instrument. It is important to clarify the contrasting character of each section, let the melodies sing fully, and shape changes in volume and tempo as part of a broad musical flow. Even in the most demanding passages, continuity of sound should be preserved, allowing the brilliance to convey a strong sense of dramatic tension.
