🇭🇺Bartók Béla Viktor János ： Fifteen Hungarian Peasant Songs No.10 Listesso Tempo BB 79 Sz 71

The tenth piece in Bartók’s Fifteen Hungarian Peasant Songs, this work makes effective use of Hungarian folk material for solo piano. As the title “Listesso Tempo” indicates, maintaining a consistent flow is more important than making extreme changes of speed. Listen for the plain, concise melody and clear rhythm, as well as the shaping of its short melodic phrases and the relationship between melody and accompaniment. In performance, avoid marking the beat mechanically and preserve the natural breathing of folk music, while carefully balancing the voices and allowing the melody to sing effortlessly.
