Alberto Ginastera ： Criollo Dance Suite Allegro Rustico Op.15-2

The second movement of the Criollo Dance Suite, “Allegro Rustico” has a lively and rustic character. Strong rhythms, sharp accents, and repetitions of short motifs give the music its momentum, while passages in which the piano takes on a percussive sonority are especially striking. At the same time, changing layers of sound and dynamic contrasts continually reshape its expression, giving the piece a richness beyond that of a merely fast dance. In performance, it is important to maintain the forward drive while bringing out each accent clearly and making effective use of rests and breaks in the phrasing. Retaining flexibility within the rough-hewn character allows the music’s vitality to emerge.
