Ferruccio Busoni ： Chaconne – 6 Solo a violino senza basso accompagnato – (J.S.Bach) d-moll BWV 1004

Busoni’s piano transcription of the final movement of Bach’s Partita No. 2 for Solo Violin. In this D minor Chaconne, a variation form built on a bass progression and harmonic foundation begins with a concise theme, gradually expanding in density and register toward a monumental climax. A brighter passage in D major, followed by a return to the tension of D minor, is one of the work’s notable features.
