🇫🇷Francis Jean Marcel Poulenc ： Bourrée d’Auvergne in C-Dur FP.101

This crisp piano piece is shaped by the buoyant binary pulse characteristic of the bourrée and the unaffected character of a folk dance. The music unfolds through short phrases and repetitions, with accents that suggest a touch of humor within its clear rhythmic framework, as well as dynamic contrasts that alter the expression from one passage to the next. Highlights include the momentum created by the approachable melody and moving accompaniment, along with the colors produced by its concise writing. In performance, the meter should not be made too heavy; each note should be clearly aligned, and the distinction between staccato and legato carefully presented. Rather than forcing the accents, performers should attend to the direction and breathing of each phrase so that the dance’s vitality comes through while its lightness is preserved.
