Anatoly Konstantinovich Lyadov ： Barcarolle in Fis-Dur Op.44

Lyadov’s Barcarolle is a lyrical miniature in which a long-breathed melody seems to float above a gently rocking accompaniment. A steady rhythm suggesting the motion of a boat supports the piece as a whole, while changes in the melody’s expression and register create a natural sense of ebb and flow. In the calmer passages, it is important to keep the sonority clear and let the melody sing softly. Where the expression changes, broaden the tone and dynamics without losing the continuous motion, then carefully shape the return to tranquility.
