🇮🇹Ottorino Respighi ： Ancient Airs and Dances Suite No.1 Gagliarda

Gagliarda is a poised and lively miniature that preserves the character of an old dance. Its clear rhythms propel the music forward, while overlapping voices and the passing of phrases from one part to another give the texture depth. A particular point of interest is the contrast between light, agile motion and more composed expression, which shapes the overall flow. In performance, it is important to maintain the buoyancy of the beat while distinguishing the role of each voice and balancing the dynamics. Crisp articulation and restrained pedaling can clarify the musical outline; avoid excessive force in the decorative motion and bring out the dance’s elegant character.
