Ernst von Dohnányi ： 2 Waltzes Du und Du (from Die Fledermaus)

This set consists of two waltzes arranged for piano by Dohnányi, based on “Du und Du” from Johann Strauss II’s operetta Die Fledermaus. Centered on familiar and graceful melodies, it offers a light dance-like flow together with the brilliant sonorities of the piano. Listening for the shifts between melodic and accompanimental roles makes it easier to perceive the music’s unity and changes of expression. In performance, the waltz rhythm should not become too heavy; the left-hand accompaniment should remain steady while the right-hand melody is shaped with a supple, singing tone.
