Franz Joseph Haydn ： 12 Minuets No.2 in B-Dur Hob.IX:11

This is the second piece from Haydn’s “12 Minuets,” a poised and approachable minuet. Within its regular triple-meter motion, concise and well-balanced melodies are answered by light, graceful phrases. Its simple structure, with two repeated sections, allows the listener to appreciate the contrasting character of the first and second halves. In performance, the first beat should not be overemphasized; instead, maintain the flow of the meter and give the ends of phrases a natural breath. Bringing out the melody while keeping the accompaniment restrained highlights the refined elegance of the dance.
