🇩🇪Franz Joseph Haydn ： Theme and 6 Variations in C-Dur Hob.XVII:5

This concise and clearly shaped set of variations unfolds from a gentle, approachable theme through 6 variations. While preserving the outline of the theme, each variation introduces changes in ornamentation, register, rhythm, and the treatment of the accompaniment, allowing the same material to take on different expressions. The highlights include the sense of continuity with the theme throughout these changes, as well as the contrast between light movement and a composed lyrical quality. In performance, it is important to bring out the main melody clearly while keeping the inner voices and accompaniment discreetly balanced. Distinguish the character of each variation while maintaining the work as a continuous whole, and shape the ornaments without haste and with poised, natural phrasing.
