Sergei Sergeyevich Prokofiev ： Romeo and Juliet Folk Dance Op.75-1

The first piece in Prokofiev’s set of ten piano pieces drawn from the ballet Romeo and Juliet. It is a short, concentrated work dominated by powerful, propulsive rhythms and sharp accents. Its atonal sonority and crisp, percussion-like writing vividly suggest the energy of a folk dance.
