🇫🇷Joseph Maurice Ravel ： Paysages sonores

Ravel’s *Paysages sonores* makes use of the tonal colors and spatial breadth of two pianos, tracing changes in sound without being bound by a clear sense of tonality. Listening closely to passages in which the two instruments overlap and to those in which they seem to respond from a distance reveals shifting layers of sound and resonance. It is important to perceive the overall flow as a single landscape and to connect the subtle structural changes with care. Carefully balancing each voice and shaping the pedaling, while remaining attentive to the quality of the attack, resonance, and silence between sounds, brings out the work’s delicate colors and depth.
