Johannes Brahms : Neue Liebeslieder Waltzes No.7 in D-Dur Op.65a-7

Type:Four-Hands Collection:Neue Liebeslieder Waltzes Key: D-Dur Duration:1:00

Post Share

The seventh piece in Brahms’s piano four-hand arrangement based on the Neue Liebeslieder Waltzes. Within the bright, gentle sonority of D major, a graceful waltz-like triple-meter sway unfolds alongside an intimate, songful melody. A central point of interest is the way the two players pass the melody and accompaniment between them, allowing the roles and overlaps of the individual voices to be heard. The beat should not be marked too strongly from the outset; instead, the light character of the dance should be preserved while giving the melody ample breath. Shape changes of mood and tone color carefully, refine the sonority toward the close, and bring the piece to a soft conclusion with well-coordinated breathing.
