With the clear meter and powerful forward drive of a march, this work moves ahead through the cooperation of two pianos. Its crisp rhythms, accents, and contrasts of register and dynamics are especially engaging, while the interplay between the two performers also deserves close attention. Maintaining the overall flow while coordinating the rhythms precisely is fundamental to the performance. In loud passages, aim for clearly articulated attacks rather than relying only on force; in softer passages and moments of exchange, listening closely to one another helps create a lucid and tightly controlled interpretation.
