🇷🇺Nikolai Karlovich Medtner ： Forgotten Melodies Book 1 Rustic Dance Op.38-5

Medtner’s “Rustic Dance” is a small piece in which a simple, approachable character meets a strength held just beneath the surface. Rhythms suggestive of dancing propel the music forward, while the exchange between melody and accompaniment creates changes in expression. Rather than relying on sheer force, bringing out the spring of the beat and the shape of each phrase helps establish a natural sense of momentum. It is also important to keep the principal melody clear and the accompaniment light and controlled. Accents should not be exaggerated; careful attention to gradations of dynamics and pedal clarity allows the lively spirit and delicate shading of the rustic dance to emerge.
