🇩🇪Felix Mendelssohn ： Concerto for Violin Piano and Orchestra in d-moll MWV.O4

This concerto gives the violin and piano equal prominence, developing its music through their close interaction with the orchestra. It consists of 3 movements: the first features a tense, powerful progression and exchanges between the solo instruments; the second offers songful melodies and a calm character; and the third brings light-footed motion and forward drive. Careful balance of the violin’s and piano’s volume and tone is essential, as is making their musical handoffs clear. In lyrical passages, the melodies should be shaped with attentive singing quality, while the finale calls for precise rhythm and crisp articulation to maintain its vitality.
