🇵🇱Frederic Chopin ： Cantabile B-Dur KK.IVb/6

Chopin’s “Cantabile” is a character piece that condenses an intimate lyricism into a brief span. The right-hand melody suggests the breathing of a vocal line, while the left-hand accompaniment supports it with a gentle flow. Rather than pursuing a large-scale development, the piece unfolds by gradually altering the character of the melody before moving toward a lingering close. Its main attractions are the beauty of the simple theme and the delicate shades created by the changing harmony. In performance, the melody should be allowed to sing while the accompaniment remains discreet, with the phrase peaks and points of repose carefully shaped. Avoid rushing the tempo, and use the pedal in accordance with the harmonic changes so that the sound does not become blurred.
