Alexander Scriabin ： 2 Pieces “Poeme” Op.59-1

Scriabin’s “Poème” is an introspective, dreamlike miniature in which melodic contours and harmonic color seem to merge. Its shifting sonorities, free from a clearly defined sense of tonality, create a quiet tension and an almost dreamlike atmosphere. One of its chief attractions lies in the way short phrases unfold as if breathing, while changes of register and texture continually transform the expression. In performance, the melody should be allowed to emerge while the accompaniment remains delicate, and the pedal must be used carefully so that the resonance does not become blurred. Rather than relying on abrupt emotional contrasts, give close attention to the lingering sound and the spaces between phrases to bring out the work’s refined poetic character.
